Trip Highlight: This is an exciting 4 Days best of Kenya Adventure group camping safari into the best sanctuaries in the country as highlighted above. This safari starts upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international Airport. You will be able to see plenty of wildlife varying from Kenya’s big five; the lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the leopard amongst a host of other different animal species. You will travel in a shared tour minibus safari vehicle and stay in Hotel and camps on full board basis while on this safari.

 Detailed Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Nairobi – Maasai Mara National Reserve

On this morning, you will be met by our tour manager and Driver/guide at your preferred location in Nairobi, brief you on your safari then thereafter transfer you to your group for departure to Masai Mara National Reserve, here you will game drive upon your arrival, and lunch will be at Manyatta Safari Camp. In the evening you will enjoy a game viewing drive till dusk and return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve, now the New 7th wonder of the world and 4th most preferred tourist destination in the world is a home to wildlife in such abundance and variety that it is difficult to imagine. The most spectacular event of the natural world takes place here; The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture while being followed on their heels by the predators of the savanna; lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vulture. It hosts over 450 species of animals which include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.

DSC09211Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve (full day)

You will spend a full day game viewing, which includes going up to the Mara River where the migration of wildebeests and zebras takes place annually from Serengeti, popularly known as the Great Annual Migration. You will have a picnic lunch and proceed with the game viewing drives till dusk where you will have a rest at Manyatta camp. You can also opt to visit the Maasai Villages in the afternoon if you wish to.

In November 2006 the Maasai Mara was named as the New 7th wonder of the world because of what experts termed as “the uniqueness of the area and the preservation it provides to so many species living in harmony”. It is understandable because this annual migration is the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth.

You can opt to carry out your game viewing activity on an adventurous balloon flight over the spectacular Mara at an extra cost. This package includes a bush breakfast in the wild!

Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

After morning breakfast, you will check out and head to Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy your first game viewing drive upon arrival till lunch time where it shall be served at your Chester Hotel. In the evening, you will have another game viewing drive at the Pink Lake referred so for it’s thousands of pink flamingos and other bird-life-it’s a Bird watchers paradise. It has a surprisingly number of animals; all the “big five” except the elephant can be seen here. Thereafter return for dinner and overnight stay

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Naivasha – Nairobi – Departure

After morning breakfast, you will have game viewing drive as you depart the lake for Nairobi with first stopping at Lake Naivasha for an hour activity – the memorable boat ride at extra cost of $30pp for a chance to see the wild at up-close range.  You will also serve lunch here before arriving in time in Nairobi where you shall be dropped off at your preferred location.

Day to Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

 Meet and greet at your preferred location in Nairobi by “Victoria Safaris Representatives”. Thereafter receive a short briefing about your safari which gives you a clear idea on the places you are going to visit as well as the accommodation arrangements. After the briefing, you will be transferred to your Vehicle for departure to Amboseli taking about 4 hours’ drive and arriving at the foothills of the majestic Kilimanjaro in time for check in and lunch at the camp.  After lunch you will proceed to the park for afternoon game drives which give you an opportunity to spot the big herds of free ranging elephants as well as other plains game such as wild dogs, the elusive leopard, lion and buffalo.  In the evening, you will be transferred back to the camp for check in, rest, dinner and overnight.

DSC09699Amboseli National Park: This Park is also known as Kilimanjaro’s Royal Court.  The ecosystem mainly consists of savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Activities available in this park include game viewing, camping, viewing Mt. Kilimanjaro, bird watching and photography. Attraction sites within the park include the big five, the observation hill which allows an overall view of the whole park especially the swamps and elephants, the swamp below observation hill hosts many elephants, buffaloes, hippos and a variety of water fowls like pelican, Egyptian goose as well as the contemporary Maasai culture and indigenous lifestyle.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park – Tsavo West National Park

 Enjoy an early morning pre breakfast game drive which will be spent exploring this ecosystem which mainly consists of savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border.  You will also visit the observation hill which allows an overall view of the whole park especially the swamps and elephants, the swamp below observation hill hosts many elephants, buffaloes, hippos and a variety of water fowls like pelican, Egyptian goose as well as the contemporary Maasai culture and indigenous lifestyle.  After breakfast you will depart from the park and be driven to Tsavo West where you will enjoy game drives within the extensive park especially looking out for wildlife and bird life as well as different types of ecosystems found within the park. You will have an opportunity to spot large herds of elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards and other plains game.

Tsavo West National Park: The park consists of savannah ecosystem comprising of open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges. Major wildlife found in the park include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, wild dogs, giraffe, zebra, crocodile, mongoose, hyrax, dik dik, lesser kudu leopards, Buffalos, nocturnal porcupine as well as diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler. Major attractions within the park include recent Volcanoes; lava flows and caves with potential for geological studies; cave exploration and hiking the magical Mzima Springs; underwater hippo and fish watching.

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park – Tsavo East National Park

Enjoy an early morning pre breakfast game drive for an opportunity to spot the early predators as they start off the day.  After breakfast, you will depart from Tsavo West and be driven to Tsavo East arriving for check in and lunch at the camp.  The camp is set in the board, thickly forested banks of Voi River offering you spectacular sceneries and concentration of diverse wildlife.  After lunch, you will explore Tsavo East which is known for its large elephant herds and numerous plains game. Also visit Lugard’s Falls, Mudanda Rock among other attractions found within the park.

Tsavo East National Park: Tsavo East National Park offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush which is washed by azure and emerald meandering of Galana River. The park is guarded by the limitless lava reaches of Yatta plateau and patrolled by some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya. Major attractions within the park include dust-red elephants wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River; the beautiful Aruba dam located on the north bank of the seasonal Voi River, visited by thousands of animals and a great game viewing destination; Mudanda Rock, which is a whale –backed Rock tower located above a natural dam, and which acts as a draw to thousands of Elephants; Lugards Falls, named after Captain Lugard, the first proconsul to East Africa, the falls feature bizarrely eroded rocks through which the waters of the Galana River plunge into foaming rapids and crocodile –infested pools. The park is also home to rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard,  pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk and Hirola. Other activities available include camping, trekking and bird watching.

Day 4: Tsavo East National Park – Nairobi

 

After breakfast you will depart from the camp and enjoy final game drives as you exit the park and be driven back to Nairobi.  You will stop for lunch en route and arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon.  Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in and rest from the long drive.  Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

 After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and depart Nairobi and drive down the escarpment via the floor of the Great Rift Valley arriving in time for check in and lunch at the camp situated inside the Maasai Mara Reserve.  After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive within the extensive Mara Reserve in the company of your experienced tour driver / guide.  The Maasai Mara is also home to the colorfully decorated Maasai tribesmen. You may occasionally see them crossing the park as they go about their daily activities completely unbothered by the wild animals which roam in the bushes.  In the evening, be transferred back to the camp for rest, dinner and overnight. In the night you can hear a chorus of different animal sounds as they communicate with each other in the darkness – more than a reason to visit

Maasai Mara: This Park offers an absolutely unique variety of animals. The reason is that this hilly region is both humid and fertile and is crossed by the rivers Mara and Talek full of crocodiles and hippo and which carry water the whole year around. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest which gradually makes way for bush and grassland the abundance of water and excellent availability of food are reasons why the Maasai Mara which in fact is a condition of the Tanzanian Serengeti National park has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa.

Day 6: Maasai Mara

 You will spend the day viewing wildlife and relaxing in the wilderness. On clear days, the Maasai Mara offers fantastic orange tinted sunsets and you will definitely want to capture this moment while sipping on a sundowner back at the camp. The Mara reserve is 1510 sq. km of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers. Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in great numbers.  It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common.

Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down for a beautiful champagne breakfast. These trips can be arranged on request.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Nairobi – Departure

After Morning breakfast depart for morning game drives within Maasai Mara Reserve for a chance to spot more wildlife species.  After that, check out and depart back to Nairobi, upon arrival you will be taken for farewell lunch at famous Carnivore Restaurant before being transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound international flight to your next destination.
