15 DAYS MAGNIFICENT FAMILY KENYA AND TANZANIA WILDLIFE SAFARI

Trip highlights: This trip takes you to both Kenya’s and Tanzania’s best game sanctuaries. You will start by passing through the floor of the Great Rift Valley onwards to the enormous Maasai Mara national park then Samburu town land of the Samburu people. You will then cross the border into Tanzania at Namanga and proceed to Arusha then to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti national parks. You will be able to see a host of different wild animals as well a host of different plant species and cultures of people as well. You will be accommodated both in the lodges and Tented camps – under canvas during this Charismas and New year Safari.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

On this day at 7 .00 am, you will be received from your residence in Nairobi by our tour manager then transferred to our tour van for your trip to Maasai Mara along the floor of the Great Rift Valley via Narok, the only Maasai town in this region, then climb the western wall of the valley entering Hemming Ways country that board Serengeti plains, arriving at Mara in time for lunch.  Enjoy your first afternoon game viewing drive.

Day 2: Maasai Mara- Full Day
Early morning or after breakfast, you will have a full day game viewing across the rich tree stubbed grasslands and rolling hills.

 The Maasai Mara is renowned for its great herds of plain game, black manned lion, leopard and cheetah and every type of wildlife in Kenya.  The wildebeests are the most dominant inhabitants of the Maasai Mara. Their numbers are estimated in the millions. The great migration starts in July Thompson’s gazelles, zebra and other herbivores migrate from the Serengeti  plains in Tanzania to fresh pastures in the north and then back south again  in October.

Maasai Mara Balloon Flight 

Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at  an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is  an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Maasai Mara

Spend the morning game viewing and in the afternoon visit the Maasai people  and interact while learning abit about their way of life or if you opt you  can relax at the lodge as you prepare to depart for Mount Kenya in the  morning.

Day 4: Maasai Mara – Mount Kenya

After breakfast depart for Mt Kenya National  Park with lunch en-route at Thomson’s Falls. You will arrive in the late  afternoon

Day 5: Mt Kenya

After breakfast, drive to Sweetwater’s Sanctuary. Enjoy morning Chimps and game drives and back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch go for an afternoon  guided nature walks in  this beautiful natural attraction.

  Day 6: Mt Kenya – Samburu (Christmas Day)

After an early breakfast, drive to the northern frontier district to Samburu Game Reserve arriving in the late afternoon. Game views as you proceed to your camp for a late lunch. After lunch depart for an afternoon game viewing drive in this northern frontier park where you can see the special five species.

 As you enter the Samburu Game Reserve from Archer’s Post you may spot a herd of elephants grazing near the river beds where there is plenty of food available. However, the game reserve is characterized with the doum palms which are clear identification that the water table around this region is high. As you game view towards your lodge you may spot the special five species which are the Beisa Oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, grevy’s zebra and gerenuk. This species can only be seen in the north of equator in Kenya. Samburu game reserve borders Shaba and buffalo springs reserve. These reserve are serve by Uaso Nyiro in some place it forms the  boundary between Samburu and Buffalo springs

Day 7: Samburu Game Reserve

Explore this reserve with unique flora and fauna. You have also a great opportunity to explore the neighboring reserves: Shaba National Reserve and Buffalo Springs Game Reserve. All the three reserves have their unique factors and all are separated by one river; the Ewaso Nyiro River also known as ‘Brown River’.

Samburu Game Reserve is the home for the lion that took care for a baby oryx not only once but twice. Shaba is one of the places  that Joy Adamson made her home and adopted a cheetah’s cub where as Buffalo  Springs has its own unique springs which is believed that it propped up  during the 2nd World War when the Italians bombed the area confusing it with Nairobi. You may opt to have a cultural visit to the cousin’s of the Maasai, the Samburu.

Day 8: Samburu – Nairobi
Depart after breakfast for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon then spend the  night at the Fairview Hotel or Meridian Hotel after a complimentary dinner at the  Carnivore Restaurant. Lunch will be served enroute.

DSC09521Day 9: Nairobi – Arusha – Lake Manyara

Depart early morning for Arusha – Tanzania via Namanga border where you will be transferred onto a land cruiser on the other side of the border arriving  in time for lunch at the Naura springs Hotel in Arusha before proceeding to Lake Manyara Migunga Forest lodge. Afterwards spend the afternoon enjoying what the area has to offer.

Day 10: Lake Manyara – Serengeti

Pre breakfast game viewing en rout to Serengeti via Ngorongoro with packed lunch for overnight at Ikoma Bush Camp In Serengeti.

Day 11: SerengetiFull Day

Pre breakfast game drive to catch early predators then return to camp for breakfast and leisure. After a sumptuous lunch, proceed for your afternoon game viewing drive.

 Optional Balloon Flight

Serengeti; Tanzania’s first and most famous park, the Serengeti, is renowned for its abundance of leopard and lion. With wide – open plains and huge herds of wildebeest, spectacularly seen migration, the Serengeti is considered an African Eden and the eighth wonder of the natural world.

Day 12: Serengeti -Ngorongoro Crater – Half Day

After early breakfast, depart to the Crater floor for a half day due to the preservation of the Ecosystem. After lunch, proceed to Tarangire National park arriving late afternoon and checking in a tented camp.

With its blue green vistas, close-range viewing opportunities and unparalleled concentrations of wildlife, Ngorongoro is one of East Africa’s most visited destinations and also one of the largest calderas in the world at about260 sq. km; the crater is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is a great wildlife attraction. You will have no trouble spotting Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and many species of plains animals -Wildebeest, Zebra, Reedbuck, Thompson gazelle and many more.

Day 13:TarangireFull Day (New Year)

After breakfast,  enjoy a full day game viewing drive with a picnic lunch. Get a chance to  spot East Africa’s big five which are the lion, elephant, buffaloes, cheetah  and the ever lazing rhino.

Day 14: Tarangire – Arusha 

After early breakfast depart for Arusha  Via Meserani Snake park for early lunch and  overnight accommodation at Naura Springs Hotel.

Day 15: Arusha – Nairobi

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Namanga Border for onward transfer into a waiting tour van ready to transfer you to Nairobi arriving in the day.
