Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Meru National Park

Depart after breakfast for Meru National Park. This achieved worldwide fame with its association to Joy Adamson’s Born Free. A wide range of wildlife including elephant, hippopotamus, lion, leopard, cheetah, reticulated giraffe, and zebra, the bird life is also impressive and there are roughly 280 recorded species. After lunch you can spend some time on your hill view verandah, before enjoying an extended afternoon game drive.

Day 2: Meru National Park – Samburu Game Reserve

This morning we travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and Beisa Oryxes. We also enjoy Larsens Tented Camp or Samburu Intrepids Camp, our luxurious hostelry set beneath a canopy of acacia trees along the banks of the river.

DSC09719Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve

Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy camp.

Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve – Treetops lodge (Aberdare or Mountain tree Lodge)

Our destination today is the Aberdare National Park or Mt. Kenya National Park. We travel overland south from Samburu to The Aberdare Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. After lunch and high tea, set off for the Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. This outstanding lodge offers high altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo.

Wildlife can be observed from different levels – and from outside where you can see, hear and smell everything and inside where you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cozy. You can put in a request to be awakened during the night if your favorite animals show up. A herd of Elephants might be just feet away and if you are lucky, a Leopard or large male Lion might put in an appearance.

Day 5: Tree Lodge – Nakuru National Park

Today we travel to the exotic Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch an exciting game run is planned for the afternoon. The game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renowned and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the white Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve

This morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. Lunch at our Lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run.

The Mara Game Reserve-one of the greatest wildernesses of the world large mammals is varied, and easy to see. Residents among the Park’s are: Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

Day 7: Discover Masai Mara

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. During our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Nairobi – Departure

5 Days Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru Group Safari

(Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and finally to Arusha)

Highlights: This is an exciting 4 days best Maasai Mara & Lake Nakuru group safari which begins in Nairobi upon arriving from a night bus from Mombasa and ends on your way to Arusha. During the safari, you will be able to see plenty of wildlife varying from the big five; lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the leopard among a host of other different animal and bird species. You will travel in a group in a safari minibus with wide window and a pop up roof for game viewing. You will stay in camps and guest house during this safari with meals on full board basis.

Detailed Day by Day itinerary:

Day 1: Mombasa – Nairobi

Board a schedule night bus from Mombasa to Nairobi to arrive in the early mornings for the start of your Group safari to Maasai Mara National Game Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 2: Nairobi- Masai Mara National Game reserve

Our safari guide will pick you from the bus station or your referred location in Nairobi in the morning and transfer you to your group departing by Maasai Mara. Descend the escarpment and drive via Narok to Masai Mara Game Reserve with lunch served upon arrival. The Masai Mara is classic African savannah, and the sheer density of wildlife is amazing. Masai Mara is famous for its Black manned Lion and yearly migrations of Wildebeest and Zebra, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Gazelle, Leopards, Giraffe are also found here. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a game viewing drive till dust and then return to your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara (Full Day) – The Great Wildebeest Migration Watching!

After breakfast, you will go for a full day spent viewing and exploring this spectacular National reserve with a trip to Mara river for a chance to watch the wildebeest crossing the Mara river. You will also have the chance to see an astonishing amount of wildlife. Of the big cats, lions are found in large prides everywhere. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still fairly common. Return to your safari camps or lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Masai Mara – Nakuru

After breakfast, depart Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru with Picnic lunch en-route. On arrival check in at Lake Nakuru guest house. Short nap will be followed by an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous for its pink Flamingos and many other types of birds. There are rare species of animals the white rhino and Rothschild giraffe among a wide variety of game. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru guest house or similar.

After breakfast, depart to Nairobi stopping in order to arrive in good time for your schedule afternoon shuttle bus to Arusha town in Tanzania.
